Every metaphor both highlights and hides important aspects of any given Target domain. For this reason we need a variety of metaphors to help bring perspective to a Target domain, even if not all of the metaphors are equally valid. There is a place both for a central or normative metaphor and for a variety of metaphors that help keep the broader picture in view.
